🥪 Naming Characters/Places - Tools and Websites 🥪
Quick Name Generator
I use this to find a name for my characters. It’s quick, and it grabs names from every culture (so far as I can tell). I’ll usually set the number of generated names to 100, and within a few cycles, I’ll almost always have a handful of good candidates catch my eye.
If you’re looking for some more specific parameters to set when finding a name, you can use this generator from the same site: [Character Name Generator Link]
Behind the Name
A website with a handful of useful features, including a name generator and lists of names by culture/country. There are also lists of name popularity by year, but only for those countries with the data available. Each name lists some information on its etymology and history.
Nameberry - Advanced Search
If you’re looking for a name with specific parameters, you’ll most likely find what you’re looking for with this. There are also big alphabetical lists of names if you’d rather peruse them that way.
